A fired employee of Snapchat has created a huge dent on the company’s image by making claims that its CEO had told him in 2015 that he was not keen to make any business expansions in poor countries like India. The name of the ex-employee who has made this startling revelation is Anthony-Pompliano.

In a report published by the Variety magazine, Pompliano claimed that when he raised concerns about the slow growth of the app in developing countries and tried to give inputs which will help the growth of the app in developing nations, the Snapchat CEO said that this app was for the rich and not for countries like India and Spain which are poor.

Now this statement from the CEO Evan Spiegel is a big surprise because the Indian market is growing steadily and the country has a whopping 200 million Whatsapp users and almost 4 million Snapchat users and the number is expected to increase further. According to Variety magazine, Anthony-Pompliano who was earlier working with Facebook was hired by the company to increase its user base. However, he was later fired and he is currently involved in a lawsuit with the company.  He has claimed that Snapchat misled investors by giving them inflated statistics about the user data.

However, the company has released an official statement with regards to this controversy. The spokesperson has refuted the claims of the ex-employee and has said that this app is for everyone across the world and it can be downloaded for free. They also said that the claims about misleading the investors were wrong and that all these statements are being made by a discontented employee. The spokesperson went on to say that the company was and will always be grateful to all its patrons in India and across the world.

Anthony-Pompliano had a brief stint in the company which lasted for just 3 weeks. He has also made claims that company did not give good feedback about him due to which he was finding it difficult to get another job.
