It is a universal truth that attractive people lead better lives. Surveys and studies show that they are more popular, can get out of sticky situations more easily and experience greater success at work. In short, beautiful people lead better lives. Or do they not?

If we take a step back and look beyond the studies to everyday life, we see the different side of the coin. Beautiful people don’t always have it easier. To quite an extent, the perception of an easier life comes from onlookers who believe that if a person looks good, his or her life must be perfect. However, being attractive or hot comes with its own set of problems.

Too Much Judgement About Good Looking People

There is certainly a lot of judgment in the workplace when a good looking person does well. There are rumors to the effect that he or she is hiring is on the basis of looks. A good looking person could also be a good performer at work and actually deserve the promotion which may not be easily digestible to most people.

Blend of Good Looks and Intelligence not Digested by Many

Then there is the belief that someone who is good looking is not always intelligent. This is true of both men and women. Generally, good looking males and females in the workplace don’t involve in making a suggestion. People tell them not to bother their heads about it. They should just concentrate on looking good.

Labeling comes Fast for Attractive People

In addition, there are assumptions people make when meeting an attractive person in a social setting. If a good looking person is a bit shy and reticent,  arrogant is the word that people instantly use to describe him or her. People even assume that if someone is good looking they are also promiscuous. A beautiful and confident woman is also  labelled bitchy.

Attractive women have confessed that they don’t have as many women friends. Other women feel too insecure around them and may even see them as competition. Handsome men face difficulties in finding partners who can see beyond their looks.

There is no denying the fact that people who are  attractive get different treatment and often the treatment is preferential. However, this does not mean that being attractive doesn’t come with its own set of problems.
